She has had works performed and recorded across the U.S. and has received commissions from numerous choral ensembles. The four composers will each receive a $1,200 commission fee to write a five-to-seven minute choral work. All four works will be presented during a free public Reading Session scheduled for Tuesday, June 6, 7:00 PM, at Sundin Hall on the campus of Hamline University in St. Paul. The winning composer will receive a $6,000 commission to create a work to be premiered during the Singers' 2001-2002 season. The New Choral Music Program is designed to stimulate the creation of choral works, providing professional opportunities for emerging composers and increasing public awareness of their works. The program serves talented composers who are at an early stage of career development, have not received acknowledgment as established professional by other musicians and arts professionals, and have had a limited number of major performances. |
