Richard Kessler, Executive Director of the American Music Center, recently announced the appointment of Lyn Liston as New Music Information Specialist. As New Music Information specialist, Liston will oversee the American Music Center's Information Services Program, which provides vital information about new American concert music and jazz to composers, performers, educators, students, related-industry and audiences.

Liston's previous experience includes four years in music promotion and publishing at Boosey & Hawkes, where she produced the brochure "Using Copyright Music for Dance" and promoted the B&H catalog to orchestras, chamber music groups, opera companies, choreographers, and dance companies.

Lyn holds a Master of Music degree in classical guitar performance from the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music. In Cincinnati, she worked for Music Teachers National Association/American Music Teacher magazine, where she was Editorial and Publicity Assistant. She has taught music history to non-music majors (with emphasis on current trends in music) at the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg and at Gardner-Webb University. She has also worked in the recording industry as a packaging manager for Sony Classical and as Booking and Public Relations Manager for H.T. Chen & Dancers. In 1997-98 she taught English in Suzhou, China. While there, she noted the need for opportunities for Chinese composers and returned to the US with a profound appreciation for organizations such as the American Music Center.
